Reduce pictures for an upload form, listing or project. Set a maximum width and optional height. Images fit within those bounds, keeping their proportions. Smaller images are not enlarged.
Set a width or a bounding box
With only a width entered, the tool reduces larger images to that width and calculates a proportional height. It keeps the whole picture. Narrower sources keep their original dimensions; the width is a maximum, not a requirement to make every output the same size.
Adding a height sets a second maximum. The tool uses whichever dimension requires the greater reduction, so the result fits inside both limits. It does not stretch the picture, crop its edges or add padding to fill empty space. The actual result may therefore be narrower or shorter than the requested bounds.
Example: fit a landscape photo within 600 by 600
Start with a 1200 by 800 pixel photograph. Set width to 600 and leave height blank. The result is 600 by 400 because both original dimensions are reduced by the same factor. Adding a maximum height of 600 gives the same result; the width is still the limiting dimension.
Now set the maximum height to 300. The height becomes the limiting dimension, giving a 450 by 300 result. If your destination requires an exact square, first choose a square composition with the cropper. A 600 by 600 bounding box alone does not turn a landscape picture into a square.
Smaller source images keep their dimensions
A batch may contain a 2000 pixel wide image alongside a 400 pixel wide image. With a maximum width of 800, the first is reduced and the second stays 400 pixels wide. Check each output dimension instead of assuming that every file in a mixed batch has become identical.
This tool does not enlarge images. Increasing pixel count would not restore missing original detail. If an upload requires dimensions larger than your source, find a higher-resolution original. Keep that original when making smaller copies so you can prepare another size later without repeatedly resizing a reduced version.
Check both dimensions and file size
Pixel dimensions and byte size are different requirements. A 600 by 400 image can still exceed an upload byte limit. Review the actual output size, then use the image compressor if another reduction is needed. Also confirm that the upload accepts your chosen JPG, PNG or WebP output format.
Only still JPEG, PNG and WebP inputs are supported. SVG, GIF, HEIC, PDF and animated files are unsupported. Input size is limited to 25 MB and 24 megapixels per image. Large batches can take longer on a device with limited memory, so try fewer files together if processing fails.
Each side is limited to 16,384 pixels. Outputs are limited to 25 MB per image and 150 MB per batch; ZIP bundles the files without recompression.
Frequently asked questions
Does resizing change my original file?
No. The tool creates downloadable copies. Image file data is processed locally in your browser and is not uploaded to a resizing service. Save the copies before closing the page.
Why did resizing make the file larger?
Dimensions are only part of file size. Output format and browser encoding also matter. A PNG export may be larger than its JPEG source even after resizing. Compare the actual downloaded result with the original.
Can I use centimeters or inches?
The input dimensions here are pixels. For printing, determine the pixel dimensions required by your printer or print service first. A pixel size alone does not specify the physical size at which an image will be printed.
